Understanding consumer food safety behaviour at home

Two people cooking in a kitchen

Previous research using video recordings show that there are many common risky kitchen behaviours at home such as misuse of tea towels and frequent use of mobile devices during food preparation.

Now, a UK Food Safety Research Network project is working on extending this research to learn more about consumer food safety behaviour at home to help develop ways to change this behaviour to improve food safety.

The project is led by Dr Gulbanu Kaptan at the Leeds University Business School working with the Food Standards Agency.
