It’s challenging to quickly detect bacteria in food due to its complex biochemical make up.

A project funded by the UK Food Safety Research Network is developing a sensor which will result in an audio signal in less than 1 minute specific to a given bacteria.

This innovation could help detect pathogens in food production quickly, to help improve food safety

The project is led by Dr Nikhil Bhalla at Ulster University working together with the company Sensip-dx.
