The UK Food Safety Research Network, hosted by Quadram Institute Bioscience, is committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. This notice sets out how Quadram Institute Bioscience (QIB) will use and protect your personal information.

We may gather data about you from your use of our website https://fsrn.quadram.ac.uk when you attend one of our events, or if you contact or correspond with us.

This Privacy Notice applies to personal information which we process relating to people who have:

Website visitors

We collect personal information about visitors to our website, if they fill out a form on our website, participate in a survey or register for an event.

We also collect details of your website visit, IP addresses etc. (information in weblogs) to allow us to operate our website and protect it from attack or restrict access.

Email subscribers

When you subscribe to receive emails from us, we may ask for your:

  • content preferences so we can tailor messages better to your interests.

We will collect this information when you subscribe to our mailing lists. When opting to subscribe to our mailing lists, you will be emailed a confirmation notice and a request to confirm your willingness to receive email updates from us. Our use and storage of your personal information for email communication is based on your consent. This means that you will only receive emails and information that you have asked to receive.

If you withdraw your consent for us to contact you, we will store your information for a period of six years to ensure that you no longer receive emails from us.

Event attendees

When you register to attend one of our events (including via our third-party providers, JotForm, or Eventbrite) we will ask for your:

• name
• email address
• other relevant information as determined on an event-by-event basis, for example organisation, job title or work-related email address.

We will collect this information when you enrol to attend an event. Our use and storage of personal information is based on consent. We use personal information solely for the purposes of administering the event. We may need to share personal information with third party organisations where it is necessary to administer the event (for example, with an external venue).

If you are a speaker at one of our events we will promote your participation via platforms such as Twitter, LinkedIn and by email. External platforms may continue to store and use personal information after the event has ended.

Contact form

When you use our contact form we will ask for your:

  • name
  • email address
  • relevant information relating to your enquiry

We will use the information provided solely for the purposes of administering your enquiry. We may need to share your information with third party organisations where it is necessary to address your enquiry.
