Food safety in the home

To improve food safety practices at home we aim to:

  • understand the risks associated with food storage, preparation and consumption at home
  • develop strategies to mitigate these risks by engaging with consumers directly, as well as government and non-government organisations

Examples of problems that the network can address in this area include:

  • Understanding the psychological, social and economic factors that prevent the implementation of food safety best practices by consumers at home
  • Developing strategies to improve consumer behaviour
  • Collaborating with the industry to implement changes that promote the safest behaviours as the default option
